Affected Mining Communities Will Benefit From Mineral Revenue – Mireku Duker

The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in charge of Mines Honourable George Mireku Duker has affirmed government commitments to ensuring affected mining communities by illegal mining activities benefits from the Mineral revenues.

According to him the menace where mineral revenues are chanelled into recurrent expenditures by the assemblies including paying of salaries and buying of fuels for assemblies cars in mining communities will be ceased and put to something more benefiting.

Obviously, if you use the revenue for recurrent expenditure I will complain. Because in the future we must have something to show that were built out of gold revenue, because the gold we mine won’t be there forever. He stated

He made this known when he commissioned the Community Center for Tamso Compound in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.

The project was funded by the Mineral Development Fund.

He also assured that as the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in charge of Mines, there will be no circumstances under his watch that the MDF won’t be put into useful purposes, and proper monitoring will be done to ensure all measures put into place by the law will be upholded.
