Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu revealed this when he delivered the budget for 2021 to Parliament on Friday, 12 March 2021.
He said, “The consumption of electricity was subsidized. Government has fully covered the consumption of more than 1 million lifeline customers and subsidized 50% of the consumption of all other customers over the period.
Mr. Speaker, through this initiative, more than 10 million Ghanaian citizens benefited from the free water supply provided by Ghana Water Company Limited between April and December 2020. The average monthly water supply of 9.24 million cubic meters increased by 43.21 per cent to 13.23 million cubic metres. Furthermore, a total number of 474 small towns and 1,143 rural communities benefited from the free water provided by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA).”
The MP for Suame added that: “Mr. Speaker, under the ‘Operation Return Home’ programme, the Government has helped 10,025 Ghanaians whose circumstances have been aggravated by the COVID19 pandemic to return home. In doing so, we have protected the lives and welfare of Ghanaian nationals abroad and promoted a positive perception of the state of Ghana in these difficult times.
